and i shall be a meteor in the sky
exploding stars in galaxies
swirling by
i shall be the tiniest grain beneath your toes
and the pollen floating in the breeze
a whisper in the cracks
of your newly-assembled IKEA furniture
and while the past is both
concrete ticking clocks of millions of seconds ago
and abstract memories both lost and found
in a dusty box on the shelf
there is something transmutable about
the foreign and familiar presence
of another person
still alive
yet not here next to you
