Weekly Update: St. Augustine, Ninja Part Two and Mario

7 the rest - sunday

1. Song of the Week: St. Augustine by Band of Horses

I really fell in love with their album this week, but this has to be one of my favourite. “I know you tried, I know your curse, I know your best is still your worse.”

2. Video of the Week: SourceFed Plays Ninja: Lost Footage, Episode Two – The Final Chapter!

Okay, I literally laughed till I cried for this video, so you know that it trumps all the others because of this. Favourite part is definitely Will versus Joe (six minutes in and onwards). I won’t spoil anything for those who haven’t watched. I will just say, go watch it.

3. LP of the Week: ChilledChaos’ Mario Kart 8 Part 4

My favourite LPs lately have been Mario Kart 8 LPs and Worms – oh, and trivia LPs. I don’t know why, but those are my current addictions. I don’t even watch Minecraft videos anymore.

And there are no favourite trailers this week, only movies that I’ve watched. I’ll catch you guys tomorrow for the next 30 Day Movie Challenge. I hope it’s evident that I’ve been able to blog a lot more recently. It’s technically vacation period now, so my next two weeks are pretty free for blogging.

Till then!

Youtube Gamer Trending: Mario Kart 8

5 tgfyv - friday

Friday is here again! And it’s time for another TGFYV. This time round I’m sharing what’s currently trending on Youtube in terms of let’s plays: Mario Kart 8.

Mario-Kart8

Source: mynintendonews.com

Yes, this kart game is back with its 8th main instalment to the franchise, having been released in Japan on May 29th and making its debut in Europe and North America on May 30th. And the current addiction over its adrenalin-pumping gameplay is very strong. It currently has an 88/100 on Metacritic with a user rating of 9.2 and an 88.26% score on GameRankings. Want to hear how it’s affecting Wii U sales? Check out Forbes take on it.

But for now, I’m here for TGFYV (Thank Goodness for Youtube Videos). So I’m here to share my favourite LPs of Mario Kart 8 – like literally every Youtuber I’m following is playing it now.

1. Head2Head SourceFedNERD

2. PointlessBlog Vs. Steve Booker

3. The Derp Crew a la ChilledChaos

4. Rooster Teeth Let’s Play

5. Smosh Games

All these videos came out along the same week, i.e. this week. So enjoy watching them play through it! Personally Mario Kart has a soft spot in my heart ’cause I remember being ten and going over to a friend’s house, having them take out the nintendo 64 controllers and spending the entire day just racing each other, praying for a blue shell, hating the rainbow road and just generally getting both absolutely frustrated and laughing like crazy.

So watching all these videos just brings back so much nostalgia. I think Nintendo as a whole just does that to me.

Till next time!

Weekly Update: Ninja, Bombball and the New Doctor!

7 the rest - sunday

Another stressful week. But good news is that there will be tonnes of posts coming up this week! Stay tuned at the end of this recap for what they are.

1. Song of the Week: Green – Adam Barnes

This is a song that I really needed for the end of the week. All my weekends are being stolen by routines I do not want to have in my life. This is my song to make me feel better about it. And a close second song is #BoysLikeU – Like The Movies & Ali Brustofski.

2. Video of the Week: SourceFed Plays Ninja Episode One

Another Sourcefed video that was hilarious. Ninja reminds me of a game I used to play as a kid called Pepsi Cola Pop. But instead of stepping on people’s feet, it’s slapping another’s hand.

3. LP of the Week: Bombball – Game Grumps VS

Game Grump VS videos are increasingly becoming a highlight of my weekends. And this one was no different.

4. Trailer of the Week: Doctor Who Series 8 Teaser Trailer

Alright, not much of a trailer, but it really makes me super excited for August when we get to finally have adventures with the new doctor!

Last but not least, stay tuned this week as I start on the 30 Day Movie Challenge with Rhey of Sunshine. The first challenge will be up tomorrow and will continue for the next 30 days. I’m extremely excited to see how this goes, and how it will differ from the already completed 30 Day Book Challenge. Also, I will be putting up a review of X-Men: Days of Future Past this Wednesday as well, so keep watching this page for that.

Till next time!

Weekly Update: Don’t Care, Sir Candyman and The Flash

7 the rest - sunday

Such a stressful week that I barely had time to blog everything I considered blogging. But I thought I might as well sum up the week with all the videos I’ve been watching lately.

1. Song of the Week: Really Don’t Care – Demi Lovato

I could of chosen among a handful of songs really. But this week I needed a song which I could destress to, and this one was it. I had Pompeii stuck in my head all of yesterday, and on Friday it was “In Case”, another Demi song, but this is the one I’ll use for Sunday. It’s a very weekend song, anywho.

2. Video of the Week: Sourcefed Empowered on Animated!

Again, I really needed a video that made me smile, and this was one of them. The Sourcefed crew has such amazing conversations, but there are just too many to keep up with lately. So I was so thankful when they finally brought out the animated series like how other YT channels do. It brings together some of the best conversations with awesome sketches.

3. LP of the Week: Meeting Sir Candyman (The Hidden) with Cathy and Adam

This one just stood out to me. So many times you see kids swearing and trying to act so cool on servers, but this kid was just so down-to-earth and awesome.

4. Trailer of the Week: The Flash (Extended Trailer)

I don’t think I’ve found a great television series since Smallville – this one looks promising. I just hope it doesn’t deteriorate in quality after the first season (as they usually do).

And here are a few honourable mentions:

  1. Tanya Burr’s Smoky Arab Inspired Make-Up Tutorial
  2. Swim Cap Trick in Slow Motion by The Slow Mo Guys
  3. In Case (In Studio) – Demi Lovato
  4. Wall’s Ice Cream Goodbye Serious Cops
  5. Game of Thrones: Super Mario World
  6. Let’s Play StarWhal: Just the Tip by Achievement Hunters
  7. Immersion: Mario Kart by Rooster Teeth

Till next time!

Weekly Update: Acoustic Yellowcard, Acoustic SourceFed and Things Catching on Fire

7 the rest - sunday

Chaotic week! I barely remember how the end half of it went. And I can tell that, since I didn’t prep as much, I was often confused on what day I was posting and what I was going to write on that day (i.e. Friday onwards). This pretty much gave me a wake-up call and made me realise that sustaining this blog will be no joke once I actually do start working – whenever that is. (I hope I get some sort of concrete answer by this Monday or Tuesday.) So, this is one of the reasons why I’m glad that August is around the corner so that I can once more reorganise the categories of the weekly updates.

I’m considering one of two things; either I give myself just a four or five day blogging week, or I keep the same categories and blog on any of the days I’m free to (this means less predictability, I can either blog on all seven days, or there can be gaps of up to two to three days). I’ll have to really see how my potential routine will be.

But as for now, let’s go on to my weekly favourites:

1. Song of the Week: Ocean Avenue (Acoustic) by Yellowcard

I really love Yellowcard and this was probably one of the first songs I heard from them. I was so excited when I heard that they were releasing an acoustic album and after listening to this track, I just can’t wait to hear what else is there. There are quite a few close runner-ups this week (Passenger – Holes (Official Video)), but Yellowcard will always take the cake.

2. Youtube Video of the Week: SourceFed’s Sex Ed, Big Ass Mirrors, and Lost at Sea… It’s Comment Commentary 78!

Why? All because of the ending; the last two minutes of this video made my week. Go check it out.

3. Trailer of the Week: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Trailer #2

Unlike the first trailer in which I had no idea what exactly the plot was about other than “we must use Katniss as an example” (no, I did not read any of the books), this trailer at least gave away more of the plot and made me understand why there were all these other characters now such as Finnick. Can’t wait for it to come out, nonetheless.

Till next time!

Weekly Update: Cups, Truth or Dare and Bravest Warriors

7 the rest - sunday

This week has been – just a rollercoaster. Broken pipes in my house, I probably know the ground floor plan of the general hospital very well by now, went to check out a new mall and shopped for shoes, a business outfit, and (gasp) actual (albeit drugstore) makeup, watched a handful of some of my old favourite movies like Big Fish and Matilda, lack of sleep, too much sleep, too much guilt, lack of guilt, cleaned out the desk and the shelves and an entire bookcase and threw away all my school textbooks, and just everything in between.

So, I don’t know whether I’m glad this week is over. I just hope that somewhere out of all the events that occurred, I’ve come out a stronger person and learnt a few life lessons here and there.

But in the meantime, here is the routine end of Sunday choices.

1. Song of the Week: Cups Cover – Sam Tsui, Alex G, Kina Grannis, Kurt Schneider

Yes, a pretty old fad. But a really good rendition of it nonetheless. And I love the harmonies in this one.

2. Youtube Video of the Week: SourceFed’s ‘Tight Shirts, Dirty Pants and a Singalong on Truth or Dare!’

I think everything in this video is just hilarious. And what better way to get involved in a ‘truth or dare’ than from the comfort of your laptop watching others humiliate themselves, no?

3. Trailer of the Week: Cartoon Hangover Release Dates (internal squeal)

Less of an actual trailer but good enough for a Bravest Warriors update on all the episodes to come! And I am so excited I’m going to overuse exclamation marks soon! Here’s a recap of the dates from the video:

1. Sugarbellies – July 18

2. Dramabug – August 08

3. Browser Fail – August 22

4. Impossibomb – September 05

5. Terrabeth Bytes – September 19

Yup, I can’t wait for them all!

So, till next time,
